About The Role

Introduction
We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented SEMA Approved Racking Inspector (SARI) Inspector to support the safe and compliant operation of a wide range of warehouse storage systems. to ensure the safe and efficient operation of our warehouse systems. Reporting to the Technical Director of Econform, the SARI will play a key role in conducting inspections to a SEMA standard, supporting end-user compliance, identifying commercial opportunities aligned with our broader service offering, and potentially delivering training to end-users.
Duties (Inspection & Compliance)
- Carry out inspections in accordance with SEMA’s Approved Racking Inspector (SARI) role (see full brief on page 3).
- Perform routine inspections on a diverse range of pallet racking and storage systems, identifying damage, risk categories, and non-compliance.
- Document inspection findings clearly, including observations, defect categorisation, and required actions, using appropriate reporting tools.
- Collaborate with the inspection co-ordinator to manage and maintain an efficient diary of inspection work.
- Provide technical support to clients to aid understanding of inspection outcomes and risk prioritisation.
Duties (Training & Support)
- Potentially deliver rack safety awareness and maintenance training to clients where required.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to address identified issues promptly and effectively, ensuring minimal disruption to warehouse operations.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules and procedures to optimize system reliability and longevity.
Duties (Sales & Business Development)
- Identify project opportunities during site visits and pass scoped information to the sales team for quotation.
- Promote relevant Nene Warehouse Solutions (and wider NWS Group) products and services while on-site.
- Undertake site management and supervision of project works where required.
Duties (Other)
- Maintain awareness of relevant industry guidance including SEMA Codes of Practice, HSG76, and warehouse safety standards.
- You are not permitted to engage directly with clients on any commercial opportunities outside of official Econform and NWS Group channels. All opportunities must be referred internally.
- Travel and overnight stays are to be expected from time to time.
Skills and Experience (Essential)
- SEMA Approved Rack Inspector qualification is essential.
- Proven experience in conducting racking inspections and compiling comprehensive reports.
- Strong understanding of a range of storage systems.
- Strong understanding of current guidance and legislation relating to storage equipment.
- Technically minded, with excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage own workload and work collaboratively with co-ordinator to plan and manage diary.
- Full UK driving licence and happy to travel.
- Eligibility to work in the UK.
Skills and Experience (Desirable)
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, logistics, or a related field.
- Certification or training in workplace safety (e.g., IOSH, NEBOSH) is advantageous.
- Experience delivering formal training is a plus.

NOTE
Role of a SARI (as outlined by SEMA)
- Comply with the SEMA rules associated with the SARI qualification.
- Carry out a risk assessment so that the inspection can be carried out safely.
- Identify whether the racking structure has the correct clearances with respect to pallet/load sizes, bay clear entry, beam levels.
- Record load notice information such as date, rack manufacturer, rack configuration, loadings
- Check that the load notices are appropriate and plausible for the racking being inspected.
- Check for any obvious signs of overloading
- Classify the damage and remedial action in accordance with the SEMA classification system.
- Identify installation errors, such as position of run spacers, floor fixing patterns etc.
- Consider the pallet condition
- Note the type of mechanical equipment in use and whether this is affecting the findings of the inspection.
- Check the plausibility of the operating aisle width.
- Consider the condition of the floor.
- Note how the warehouse and operatives use the system and, if possible, to identify if this is affecting the findings of the inspection.
- Review damage looking for repetition and propose solutions where appropriate.
- Communicate with the Client
- Report any RED risks in writing to the Client during the inspection.
- De-brief the Client at the end of the inspection.
- Seek confirmation that damage reporting and weekly inspections are being done.
- Confirm that maintenance is being done.
- Comment on relevant safety issues identified during the Inspection and propose relevant guidance to address these issues where appropriate.
- Record findings and recommendations in a report to the Client within a reasonable period.
